Vriksasana or Tree Pose means posture similar to a tree. While doing this asana, the human body looks like a tree, that is why this asana is called Vriksasana. This asana is practiced by standing. What Is Vriksasana or Tree Pose?

The name comes from the Sanskrit words Vrik meaning “Tree” and “Asana” meaning “Yoga Posture”.

While doing this asana, one leg should bend, keeping the other leg firmly on the ground. Standing on one leg, hands have to be brought above the head. Preparatory Poses:

  • Urdhva Hastasana Or Palm Tree Pose
  • Standing Yoga Seal Pose Or Dandayamana Yoga Mudra
  • Upward Salute Side Bend Pose Or Parsva Urdhva Hastasana

Steps To Do Vriksasana or Tree Pose:

Step 1:

Stand up straight.

Step 2:

Bend the right knee and rest the paws of the right foot on the left thigh as high as possible.

Step 3:

Eddy is upwards and claws are on the ground.

Step 5:

Stand straight while balancing the weight of the entire body on the left leg.

Step 6:

When the balance is properly formed, then raise the arms and add both palms directly above the head to the salutation posture.

Step 7:

It is difficult to maintain balance in this posture.

Step 8:

To make it a little easier, focus the sight in one place and keep looking at it continuously.

Step 9:

When you become proficient in maintaining balance in this posture, then try to focus your eyes on the fingers by lifting the head upwards.

Step 10:

Stay in this posture for 30-60 seconds.

Step 11:

Breathe normally. To get out of the posture, do all the steps in reverse order.

  • People with blood pressure is very low, then avoid practicing Vrksasana even in this situation.
  • If you have pain in your knees, do not practice this asana, otherwise, your problem may increase.
  • If your hips are hurt, then avoid doing Vriksasana or Tree Pose in this situation.
  • People with problem in your ankle or you feel dizzy constantly, do not practice Vriksasana or Tree Pose.
